Paul Pfrehm Demonstration (November 2011)

by

"Hello? ... I'm doing an art demo up at Stillwater!"

Despite getting a phone call in the middle of the demo (to hilarious effect, I might add!), Paul Pfrehm brought his new pottery wheel to show off some of his techniques. He studied with such pottery masters as: Don Wright, Wayne Higby, Tom Coleman, Tom Turner, Val Cushing, and Seth Cardew. It didn’t take us long to realize that this would be another meeting that would go a few minutes late!

It’s not just about the forms, the glazing, the textures — it’s about all of those coming together into something greater.

Where was I? ..oh yeah, hands!

If your hands aren't dirty, you haven't started.

Being a mostly-dry process, the people in the first three rows didn't have to wear raincoats.

This was also a drawing class!

It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

The back row is seeing better thanks to the new projection screen!

Paul’s work is on permanent display in galleries in Wichita KS, Branson MO, Denison TX, Paseo in OKC, and the Firehouse in Norman, Oklahoma. He also participates in art festivals all over the country, including Paseo in OKC, and the downtown Festival of the Arts right here in Stillwater!

Our next demonstration is on January 23, 2012, and will feature a demonstration by Jerry Yarnell.
