About

For the artist or patron, the Stillwater Art Guild is an organization dedicated to stimulating community interest in the visual arts and crafts. The Guild offers a wide variety of activities for professional and amateur artists, as well as nonparticipating patrons of the fine arts.

The Stillwater Art Guild was founded in 1963. In the decades that have followed, the Guild has established firm roots, and its active members have blossomed.

Today the Guild is a vital organization dedicated to helping artists develop their talents to the fullest and to promoting the fine arts in the Stillwater community.

The Stillwater Art Guild meets at 7:00pm on the fourth Monday of each month, September through November, and January through April — in the Prairie Arts Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Each meeting features a demonstration by a notable artist. You may ask questions and interact with the artists as they create a work of art. Past demonstrations have featured many different media including oil, watercolor, acrylic and pastel painting to airbrushing, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, fabric, photography and computer generated art. In addition, the evening’s activities include refreshments and an opportunity for members to visit with fellow artists and art patrons.

The Guild also offers reasonably priced workshops featuring well-known artists.

The benefits of Guild-sponsored instruction to its members are obvious in the quality of works accepted into many juried shows and exhibitions. The works of Guild members also can be found in numerous area festivals and displayed in many private homes, businesses and professional offices.

Other member benefits include a variety of Guild-sponsored opportunities for artists to show their work in invitational exhibits and judged shows.
